Merry Christmas 2011

I am spending a few days indoors with friends Esty and Frank in the Miami area.  Great weather, great food, great friends.

A welcoming home

Tonight will be spent at a true Cuban “Noche Buena” Christmas Eve party with the traditional dishes of whole roast pig, black beans and white rice, yucca, and fried plantains.  Of course their will be lots of music and laughterto go along with the food.

May you have a wonderful Christmas!

Wakulla Springs State Park

I spent a day visiting with my friends Mary and Charley (who I met while they were hosting at Devil’s Tower) at Wakulla Springs State Park just south of Tallahassee, Florida.

A most interesting place with a lot of birds and quite a few Manatees.  The weather was perfect and the boat ride/tour really showed the diversity of the Springs.

My how time flies!

It is amazing how fast the time I have been camping has passed by.  Today marks two years since I began this trip and I just can’t believe it has been that long.

When I first started out in November of 2009 I had figured on a year to see all the states, boy was I wrong!  Everywhere I go it seems to lead to another fabulous place.  And I have met and made so many new friends along the way.  I also have learned a lot.  I was so naive when I started that I headed north in November.  Well, this year instead of freezing in Oklahoma I am basking in 75 degrees in Southern Mississippi.

I still have a lot to see and do and so I will continue onward as long as health permits.  I will head to south Florida for the winter and then I am not sure yet where I will go this Spring.

Check out today’s updates:  North Dakota – 2011 and Texas – 2011
